Never and never ever have been popular words as of late – but of course they are never used in the proper context, as brand new words go. Sometimes I like to let words totally slide when they are said or used incorrectly, because it’s to so flipping cute to hear Chicken (when she means Kitchen) or Planet Earth (when he means home). But never to I let the incorrect use of never go, since the moment the word became confused (how, I do not know).
It’s a word that now pops up in almost every conversation: “we have never ever been there before” when referring to the subway or the corner of our block, OR “you never gave me a hug” when it has been all of 2 minutes since the last one, OR “we never had sugar before” when for goodness sake, OR “let’s go to this place, since we’ve never been there before” when speaking about the condos behind them in the photos. of course you have. Never is one of those words (among MANY others) that, when used improperly in front of the wrong adults, could make Mommy and Daddy look like either, really questionable or really awesome parents.
