Let’s preface this one real quick, I’m not trying to guilt you or tell you that “this is THE year” or even remotely anything like that — that wouldn’t be cool. When I talk “workout clothes” you can imagine I’m putting air quotes around the word: workout — because really you can (of course) wear them to work out, or to just hang out, go to a class, maybe meet a friend for coffee or whatever your big heart desires. No matter what your intended use actually is (no guilt), those “workout” clothes should be stylish and comfortable so you don’t feel frumpy wearing them as your “workout” or non workout clothes. Also, maybe the most important because they are workout clothes they need to be functional, then it just gives you tons of options for the intended use.
Hey Guys, I’m in Aruba on a sorta last-minute adult only (husband and wife) trip! I’m probably relaxing on the beach, drinking some cocktails and practicing some yoga — least those were my only plans I had before I left. Since our vacation wasn’t planned months in advance, I was scrambling a bit to find all the beachy things I needed. And since in the scheme of season we are far from summer and not quite at resort yet it was a bit of a task. After a few really annoying trips to the stores and malls, I placed my butt on my couch and stuck to online shopping, the sale sections happened to be where all the beach vacation gold was waiting. Have a vacation coming up or maybe just dream of one, this is my easy every vacation day outfit picked and matched all with items I found on sale right now.
And maybe you’re like “Brandy screw you, relaxing on the beach while I’m freezing my butt off!” I promise to drink a few cocktails and hang out on the beach a little longer just for you — aaand then I’ll create a cold weather uniform we can all wear..soon!

It’s a little funny, I talk a lot about clothes and style here but never about the base of all clothes. You know the basics you put on under your clothes every day, the undies. They are probably even more important than the clothes you choose to wear on top, if you aren’t comfy in your unders you are going to be super uncomfy all day no matter what you put on over top. So without giving too much away (I’m not telling you what I wear), I wanted to round-up a few of my favorite brands. The brands and pairs that look good, will probably make you feel good, are an A+ in the land of comfort and aren’t overly expensive either (over $100 for one single pair of undies!? no thank you!).
PS. Gonch or undies around here, panties are a big NO. Hate the word, hate it. What do you call your underthings?
Halloween hangover anyone? The first weekday after Halloween is one of those days where the world collectively thinks about going to Goodlife or any gym even if just for a brief second between tiny chocolate bars. Or am I alone in this one?
So what are these, starter outfits? Basically it’s taking the idea of a capsule wardrobe and making it even easier. Instead just build yourself 4 strong every day uniforms, created with items you LOVE, that are versatile. Now add those 4 outfits (that can easily be mix and matched to be 8-12 outfits) to your existing fall closet and there you have an instant closet update. This is an easy way to update your seasonal wardrobe, plus compared to the capsule wardrobe there is much less planning and thinking involved. Make sense?
01| Striped Tee, Cardigan and Slouchy Jeans – The perfect every day comfy attire that looks pulled together. Choose a cardigan (like this one) that you will never want to take off and jeans that fit like a comfy, slouchy glove.

02| Denim Shirt and High Rise Jeans – A classic, so much so that I bet you have these two items in your closet already. Great for every day wear and the perfect items to mix and match with – pretty much two needed basics.

03| Shirt Dress – Looking for something that feels like you are still in your pjs, but doesn’t look like it? Well looky here, the perfect feels-like-pjs-but-isn’t dress. Layer cardigans and sweaters and maybe even denim shirts on top, but maybe not all at once.

04| Sweater and Denim Skirt – A pencil skirt (maybe in blue denim?) is a must any time of the year, but it’s the best when you can make it work for every day wear. Such a great classic, looks pulled together but super comfy outfit.

boots and/or sneakers – Yes, two items of footwear is probably not enough. But maybe just add two new items that go with any and all outfits to your existing shoe closet? The goal is to buy shoes or boots that go with everything all the time, and these two pairs are the perfect ‘match with everything’ shoes.

What is your go-to outfit this fall? Do you have a capsule wardrobe?
Hold up, wait a minute! Yes I did just do a big post about the new fall stuff I designed in partnership with mini mioche, but guys there is more! Today we launched 3 more styles (and the last for this season from me) in our little Not So Basics line designed by heart and habit exclusively or (and with) mini mioche. This drop of not so basic, little basics is all new. Yes, duh it’s new since you’re just hearing about it now. I’m talking new as in, we have never done these styles before (not like last drop which was full of the best sellers!). I love LOVE these three cozy, little fashion basics so much — I wish they all came in my size. And of course as all mini mioche items are, every item is designed and made right here in Toronto and organic don’t forget the organic fabrics!
THE COVERALLS – Sorta like the comfy overalls, except ten times more cozy and warm. The perfect throw one item on “hurry up and get dressed we are gonna be late” outfit for those busy days (basically every day attire). Made in 100% organic french terry and it comes in 3 colours.
[King is wearing the indigo coveralls with Doc Martens + a Tuck Shop hat] [Harlow is wearing the coveralls in eggplant with leather high top Vans in black + a Tuck Shop hat]
THE PONCHO HOODIE – A wearable hybrid of our go to favorite lush hoodie and the poncho us moms wish we had in our closet this year. The perfect fall and winter layer, that will keep her warm and probably more stylish than you (sorry about that). Made in 100% organic french terry comes in 3 colours.
[Harlow is wearing the heather granite poncho hoodie with mini mioche midwash denim and leather high top Vans in black]
THE HOODIE DRESS – Finally a dress that will keep her warm, no more saying it’s too cold to wear a dress (or is that just me saying that?). Pop on the hoodie dress and she’ll be cozy, like PJ’s all day kinda cozy. Made in 100% organic french terry in 3 colours.

Also, ‘Living The Dream‘ ball tee has been restocked and in a heather grey this time! And you might still be able to get a cowl hoodie, comfy overalls and a drop shoulder long sleeve (basically a kiddo version of a slouchy tee) if you hurry quick!
