Uniform / Vacation Mode

uniform-set on vacation mode

1-poncho cover up : 2-straw sunhat : 3-sunscreen lip balm : 4-sunglasses : 5-crop swim top : 6-denim shorts : 7-bikyni bottom : 8-birks : 9-straw beach bag

Hey Guys, I’m in Aruba on a sorta last-minute adult only (husband and wife) trip! I’m probably relaxing on the beach, drinking some cocktails and practicing some yoga — least those were my only plans I had before I left. Since our vacation wasn’t planned months in advance, I was scrambling a bit to find all the beachy things I needed. And since in the scheme of season we are far from summer and not quite at resort yet it was a bit of a task. After a few really annoying trips to the stores and malls, I placed my butt on my couch and stuck to online shopping, the sale sections happened to be where all the beach vacation gold was waiting. Have a vacation coming up or maybe just dream of one, this is my easy every vacation day outfit picked and matched all with items I found on sale right now.
And maybe you’re like “Brandy screw you, relaxing on the beach while I’m freezing my butt off!” I promise to drink a few cocktails and hang out on the beach a little longer just for you — aaand then I’ll create a cold weather uniform we can all wear..soon!

Uniform / While The Seasons Decide

every day fall uniform every day fall boots fall style TOP: aritzia – JEANS: paradise mine – BOOTS: ted & muffy

The funny thing about these pictures is I found them on the camera after the kids and I took photos for my Not So Basics collection (PS. thank you, thank you all for your notes, likes, shares and support. You don’t know how much it truly means, I appreciate it all so much more than I can type).
If you are wondering why a couple of them are a tad bit blurry and I look maybe a bit uninterested in the camera, well that’s mostly because I didn’t know my little sneaker of a son was snapping away. There was of course hundreds more to choose from (as there always is when the kids grab a hold of the camera), but those were all super blurry or just super close-ups of my face, hair, butt and feet — you’re welcome for me leaving those out. Since I had been wanting to show you my new boots, new favorite boots I should add (LOVE THEM) — I decided to just use the pics (after a bit of clever cropping) and make a post. Also he did such a great job, my little photographer in the making.

Okay, we are moving into weather talk aka the worst kind of small talk around, but I feel like it has to be said. Since in Toronto, we seem to be in the midst of a strange (and very awesome) lengthened summer (that’s the politically correct way of saying that, correct?), fall dressing is sorta stuck in this transitional phase. The phase where you think your outfit is just right in the morning, but come the afternoon you are sweating buckets and cursing “these damn jeans!“. So while the weather decides (you can decide transitional summer-fall forever, I’m VERY cool with that!) I’m just going to alternate between my summer and fall clothes every other day, for fun.

While we are on the topic of Fall Clothes, why not check out these Fall Trends. That I broke down to be wearable and versatile.

I’m working on a Fall Shoe Trends (that aren’t super trendy) post, sign up to get that sent right to your inbox as soon as it gets published!

Uniform / Hot Humid Summer Days

hot humid summer days uniform / hot humid summer days summer days top: American Eagle/Don’t Ask Why – shorts: Aritiza – sandals: Birkenstocks

A crop top!? How dare I!! Let’s just start right there, shall we? When it’s hot, like 32 degrees with 94% humidity you simply wear a crop top. Any extra possibility of a breeze hitting you is a good thing, and that small break in the fabric at the mid-section area is like a mid level air conditioning point. Plus in my humble fashion opinion, high-rise bottoms make a crop top totally cool (mostly breezy cool).

The weather has been hot (like classic Toronto, summer HOT), but hey I’m not complaining, just you know making conversation since it feels like it’s been a while since we really chatted. Oh hey, before I forget; I FINALLY finished my little FAQ and it’s been updated on my About page — I don’t know why it took me so long, the small simple things oddly do sometimes. Well anyways, you should look and make sure I covered everything/your burning questions and if not, just question me below.
So, Chris has been working like crazy and not home too much so I’ve had to re (re) adjust my summer schedule a bit. Kids come first and then work time second — which is why things have been a tad more quiet then usual here on the blog, summer is all I have to say about that. So that’s basically what we’ve been up to, a whole lot of swimming to beat the heat (you can win some really cute swim suits in this post) and a whole lot of just the three of us hanging out — and of course me stressing about not getting enough done, by hey what’s new?

[Harlow’s Dress is from our heart and habit x mini mioche spring 2015 collection] [King’s Tee is from Jcrew and shorts from Guess]

Uniform / Crop Days

mothers-day4 mothers-day2 mothers-day3 mothers-day5 mothers-day6 mothers-day1 top: zara (last year – similar and similarish) – jeans: aritzia – shoes: zara (7 years old! – similar and maybe better) – bag: the gap

Crop days/Mother’s Day, since these pictures are from way back than. I forgot to post (clearly), sometimes that happens but hey what better time to post then when me and the family are hanging out with friends in the Canadian prairies (Saskatoon then Edmonton!). This week we are on vacation (yayyy!!) but I have a few really great posts planned/scheduled for you while I’m gone.
Speaking of posts, I’ve really been trying to focus and spend my energy on the posts you all really seem to like the most, and leave the fluff blowing in the wind. Prepping posts in advance really actually helped me to look at things in more detail and focus only on the really good stuff. I’ve just really been trying to be more intentional and take my own life advice and apply it to my blog. So going forward there might not be 5 posts a week like there once was, but the posts that will pop up on a weekly basis will be more awesome. Quality over Quantity, and it honestly just feels so much better. That being said, if I have been missing something (or you have been missing something) comment below and let me know (it can be a secret I won’t hit publish unless you want me too)!

This top, these jeans and really these shoes are 3 of my favorite closet items, and hey fancy that they all go together. Versatile, comfortable and stylish; three words that when put together almost always results in a big, SOLD from me.

I have a big post planned for later this week, all about my love for jeans — so if you like jeans you should come back or enter your email address and have it luxuriously delivered to your inbox.

Uniform / Park Dates

mom-uniform1 mom-uniform3 mom-uniform5 mom-uniform6 tank: american apparel – shorts: urban outfitters – bag: brave – cooler bag: soyoung – sandals: birkenstocks  // on Harlow hat:77kids (brother hand me down) – necklace: homemade – dress: gapkids (similar) – sandals: gapkids (similar)

The Mom uniform giveaway is the cooler bag filled with snacks, plus also the kiddo in my other hand? Our weather keeps on flip-flopping around, summer to spring to god-knows-what cold days. But on the hotter days, that feel like summer? We instantly fell right back into our regular summer park — as if we didn’t miss a beat from last summer. We (I) always pack a bag of snacks, a bag of activities (chalk, baseball bat and gloves and a soccer ball) and we just hang around at any given park all day long, the official recipe for the perfect weekend day.
We often hop around to different parks every other day, park hopping is the new bar hopping, haven’t you heard? So here it is, my most basic of basic summertime “mom uniforms” — a really great pair of shorts, comfy sandals and a go to tank and done. See I told you, you’d probably wear these shorts every day all summer long.
