An Ode To Backpacks

Ode To Backpacks [ one: red canvas BDG ]  –  [ two: navy nylon Hershel ]  –  [ three: cream canvas State ]  –  [ four: vegan leather Bad Kids]  –  [five: black and olive Hershel]  –  [six: black gold zipper Marc]  –  [seven: pink leather BDG]  –  [eight: navy square vegan Mat and Nat]  –  [nine: brown vegan rucksack UO]  –  [ten: brown satchel Cambridge]  –  [eleven: olive canvas State]  –  [twelve: black pebbled Silence and Noise]  –  [thirteen: striped canvas Baggu]

So I’m back home, back from our visi-cation and I literally feel like I could sleep for a week. Probably just a few good nights in my own bed will do, but a week sounds way better. Our trip was awesome, thank you for asking (wink). Now that I’m back in the busy city, I’m back to my trusty backpack — which probably needs to be sent to retirement, it’s just so well-loved/old. I’ve been on the hunt for a new backpack and can’t decide, basically this whole list is made up of knapsacks I want and can’t decide which one to actually get.

I mean what’s not to love about a backpack, hands free and you can pack things in it as you go along your day. They deserved a full post, an ode to stylish, hands free back bags.

Which one is your favorite? Are you a backpack fan?

High, Low And Medium / The Best Skinny Jeans

The Best (high, low and medium priced) Skinny Jeans If I could live in jeans, I would. If there is one thing I feel no remorse about when I go shopping for it, it’s jeans. Instead of being a shoe, bag or beauty lover it’s all denim all the time for me. But since I actually don’t like to shop and when I do I like to get the most for every last cent, I shop around to find the best (only buy what you need and love, my shopping rules). Denim shopping is tricky for many reasons; for one the fit of a pair of jeans is either hit or totally miss and of course this very much changes from body to body. But since I am so picky, and maybe slightly obsessed with jeans (I think I called myself with this post) when I find a pair of jeans that fits like a glove and fits all my super picky stipulations, I tell everyone I know about them. And so, now I’m telling you guys.

My personal requirements for THE BEST JEANS title; the jeans need to be mostly jeans, minimal on the stretch (2% and under preferably, if I’m going to reveal my true denim OCD). The durability of a pair of jeans should be high, jeans should last a long time, they are expensive and honestly tax a lot from the environment when being made so the longer one pair lasts the better. The fit, is of course key, if you don’t feel like a million bucks in them you shouldn’t wear them. I also prefer jeans with little to no stitching on the back pockets, simple really is always better.

Swim Suited

Swim Suits / Guide To The Stylish Suits That Are Comfy It seems every year I hunt and hunt for a new swimsuit and usually come up empty-handed. No not naked, just stuck with my old faithful — and usually because I took too long and missed the boat on sizes. Swim suits are hard to shop for and never ever fun to shop for, I just heard you all scream YES. This year, no excuses — I’m getting a new one, you too? Since my goal in life is to always be comfy first, stylish probably second. I went on the hunt to find a bunch of suits that would be comfortable, stylish and good for different summer activities (with kids activities mostly).

I don’t know what your swimsuit must haves are but I’m sure comfortable (who want’s to be uncomfy when they are half-naked? no one) might be one of them for you too. So maybe, just maybe my swim suited list might help you on your hunt.  [above: halter top/boy short – giejo]

[abstract one piece – seafolly] – [ black bralette / patterned high-rise – out from under] – [deep v flounce one piece – maryisa] – [reversible sports top/hipster – issa de’ mar zia] – [cropped rashguard/boy short – amuse society] – [sports top/hipster – lululemon] – [deep v halter one piece – jcrew]

[bralette/ruched high-rise – out from under] – [neoprene bikini – triangl] – [halter neck cut out one piece – enjoue]

[tank rash guard/bikini – jcrew] – [cut-out bikini top/boy shorts – motel onyx] – [reversible basket weave bikini top/bottom – mara hoffman] – [crop top/bikini bottom – bikyni] – [open back tee one piece – vix]

[tapestry cut out one piece – madewell] – [t-back/hipster bottom – out from under] – [cut and sew one piece – giejo] – [knotted back one piece – bikyni] – [sports top/bottom – nike]

There are just too many that I love/want/think I neeeed! The plus about ordering swim suits online is that you get to try them on, at home. And you can either return in the physical store (if they have one by you) or generally the return policy is pretty okay. Have any one you ever ordered swim suits online?

Which is your favorite suit? Are you on the hunt for a new swim suit? What are your requirements?

5 Cool Kickstarters

trinity-one The Trinity One

A coffee brewing device, designed to look great on your counter, plus also brew your coffee in 3 different ways. Brew your pour overs, air pressure and cold brews — basically it’s a pretty coffee brewer that will replace a few of your specialty brewers and look really good doing it.

trobla Trobla

Looks like a speaker and acts like one too, except it’s made from a piece of wood. It’s a wooden amplifier made to amplify the sound that your smart phone makes. It’s like a really pretty version of the old ‘put your phone in a bowl’ to amplify the sound, life hack.

le-coeur Le Coeur Watches

Really really ridiculously good-looking (like Hansel) watches. Minimal designs, that are pretty big on style. I am all heart eyes over a few styles, and hey it would also be pretty cool to tell the time from an actual watch again.

sole-socks Sole Socks

Part shoe liner, part sock. The perfect liner/sock for summer, you will look like you are going bare feet except you actually aren’t. Save your shoes from getting all summer stinky and keep those pesky socks from ruining your look.

kazbrella KAZbrella

A crazy cool umbrella, it opens inside out. I was sold on the inside out opening, but supposedly it will also keep you drier, and you will have less umbrella flip outs on windy days. The concept is pretty darn cool, and one I am totally intrigued by.

imbue Imbue

A pretty darn good-looking magnetic tea infusing vessel slash mug. Great for traveling, or tea drinking on the go.

Always so many cool things to be found on kickstarter and it’s been a while since I called out a few I think are totally fantastic. It’s a great way to fall in love with a product and then be a part in helping it grow. Happy Friday!
Have you seen any cool kickstarter’s lately? What about these, which one is your favorite?

Want or Need / 02

want-need-02 tee with ruffle / geometric sweatshirt / double bar necklace / two-tone oxford shirt / black fedora / varsity zip sweatshirt / palm tree polo / pocket tee / cast iron catch-all / classic trench / duffel bag / heather jumpsuit

Just a quick little want/need post to end the week, just a bunch of items I sorta want and think we need and thought you might too. As always (well the same as the first post of this kind, since this is only the second) taken only from the sales section—a mis-mash of whole family type items.
It’s been a little quiet on the blog (not apologizing, but addressing the glaring obviousness of the quiet), all is good and okay over here. It’s the vast amount of germs and sicknesses that have been flying around all crazy like, that have taken up all my brain power—and hence it’s taking me a little longer to get back on track. But hey it’s Friday, so some none germy family time will fix all of the above.

And as far as the sales go, if they aren’t already discounted use these codes for more savings
The Gap: use CABEST (for Canadians) or GAPWOW (for you Americans) to get 40% off
JCrew: use SALELOVE to get 25% off sale items

Happy Friday!!

GO WINTER CLOTHES SHOPPING, NOW

buy winter clothes for next year But it’s almost spring, RIGHT!? “What is she even talking about?” It is close to spring, like at least 2 months away “close“. And I know buying MORE winter clothes when the season is about halfway done, sounds ridiculous and silly. I’m sure all you’re looking at right now is spring clothes; wishing and hoping and thinking and praying. If you buy spring clothes now, spring will come, right!?

But hey, just listen for a second. Almost all winter items are currently on sale (at most stores) for you, the mister and the kids. This is high sale season for those clothes you are tired of wearing and tired of looking at. Which means, this is the best time to shop and buy winter stuff for next winter. Crazy talk! But really, have a look around maybe you’ll find some things you love and you can probably get for much less, if you buy now and save it for later.

*A photo of my not so tidy totally unfinished (still 5 years later) front entrance to really drive the whole sale winter clothes idea home? sure.

If I were you (and let’s just pretend that I am), I’d look around for the more expensive and quickly lost items (mittens, curse those mittens!!) and see what I could get on sale now and pack them away till next November. Coats, boots and probably mitts – go for classic and WARM, I promise you’ll thank yourself later (and maybe even me!). Here are a few of my on sale favorites, to help take the search out of it.

buy winter clothes on sale now no.1 women’s mixed media parka (40% off with code ENDOFSEASON) – no.2 kids down parka (40% off with code ENDOFSEASON) – no.3 men’s sorels – no.4 boys down parka – no.5 little ones fleece hoodie romper – no.6 girl’s fur puffer coat (40% off with code ENDOFSEASON) – no.7 men’s peacoat – no.8 kids mittens (40% off with code ENDOFSEASON) – no.9 women’s super warm parka – no.10 girl’s native boots – no.11 women’s plaid coat

What do you say? Into shopping now for NEXT winter?
