And in case you missed my posts on Hello Bee this week:
These two don’t know it yet, and it will probably be years before they ever realize – this man they call Daddy, is the Daddy of their dreams. Hindsight now tells me that when choosing the man to spend the rest of your life with, having “will make an amazing Dad” as one of the top criteria for The Man of Your Dreams position will pretty much guarantee him the title of Daddy of Their Dreams later on in life.

Sometimes we like to play ‘secret agents’, we find shortcuts (which sometimes end up being ‘longcuts’) – and tip toe around maybe humming the ‘secret agent man” song. It’s fun and sometimes we find some super cool, super dirty, “please don’t touch anything you see” little places that are great for photos – it makes boooring errands kinda fun, if I promise we will take all the shortcuts along the way. And since the shortcuts are usually longcuts it makes our errands take extra long, so a simple grocery store run turns into an all afternoon fun time with a bit of boring sprinkled in the middle (the boring part being the actual grocery store).
The super hard working man of our house has been working super duper extra hard lately, 7 days a week 16-18+ hours a day sorta hard. We haven’t gotten a real family day in weeks, so when Chris came home from work on Friday with the giant awesome surprise that he had the whole day on Saturday off, the kids literally screamed and jumped for joy (that’s one moment that will be stored in my memory books forever). We decided to make our yearly trip (it’s much more special when we go once a year) to the zoo – 10 kms of walking trails, pretty much every animal possible and a spray park to cool off at the end, equaled an amazingly awesome Saturday in our home. How was your weekend?
King starts Junior Kindergarten in pretty much exactly 2 weeks, my heart hurts just thinking about it – but not for my own ‘don’t ever grow up’ mom reasons, for Harlow’s little heart. These two are joined at the hip; the love, empathy and admiration between them is like no other I have ever encountered – of course King attending half days at school will not change their bond, but I just know those 3 hours, 5 days a week he is gone are going to be filled with this little girl missing him like mad. I am trying my best to prep a busy schedule for my girl; little classes or drop-ins just for Harlow, little girl dates that will be special between us – but I can already feel the sadness that his very first day of school will bring to her little heart, that moment when she realizes she can’t go with him as he walks into his classroom. Boy, she is gonna miss him.
