Actually we got back last week, but it pretty much took me till now to soak it all in and get back into our normal everyday (and just in time for school to come to an end). Our vacation away, was more like a visi-cation since it was solely focused on visits and seeing all the people we miss on a daily basis. First Saskatoon, which was totally gorgeous (it doesn’t get enough press), relaxing and man did we ever have the best company/hosts. Then we drove (well my sister drove us) us to Edmonton, where we back-to-back visited family (on top of family) and the best of friends we had been missing for too long. It was a jam-packed trip, focused on people – which now that we are home has us so people sick this big city actually feels a little empty.
Our Toronto family that moved to Saskatoon (still our family), 5 kids later and we are truly one giant family. Many more photos to folllow…
Four days (and nights) together and not one fight or problem between these four, now that’s a vacation.
We ate in a barn (The Berry Barn) and holy poop it was amazing, best perogies (and company) of my life!
One day at the lake, which probably looked like an entire week if you follow me on IG — just too picturesque not to take a billion photos. I was to chicken to go on the tube, I need a few days on a lake to warrrrm up to the idea — but my kids, they were the first ones out.
But I did suck up all my fears (I’m not a big water person) and try stand up paddle boarding, something I got to check off my bucket list — next time yoga on the SUP.
My city kids, took right to nature like two worms in mud — they weren’t scared of nothing.
I forgot just how big and beautiful the sky is in the prairies. Middle Canada just doesn’t get enough credit, its stunning.
Still thinking about this.
Then Edmonton, which was full of visits – so lovely but also, very zzzzzzzzzz. Meeting cousins for the first time.
We took the kids to West Edmonton Mall, yes King and Harlow were there too. Look at that guy on the right check out my bro and Chris.
I actually feel like I didn’t get enough pictures in Edmonton, I blinked and we were back on the plane. So wonderful to see my kids play so well with some of my best friends kiddos — some of the sweetest moments.
Nice to see old friends we haven’t seen in years (and meet her kiddos) and finally meet Andrea Hanki (someone I’ve been online and 6 degrees of kevin bacon friends with for years).
Every time we come back from a visit back home, we feel a little more strange about being so far away. Toronto is home because of the city and our life, but so is Edmonton and now Saskatoon because of the people. It’s a strange and confusing feeling, one we are having a much harder time figuring out now that we did the trip with two kiddos.
PS.I left out so many photos (of very important and loved people), but my IG feed is full of them – if you’re into scooping more.
How was your weeks, while I was away? Anything you are hoping to see/that you missed me posting while I was away?
