Because John Lennon would be 70 years old today, it seems to be the perfect day to answer that question I get asked all the time:
Where did the name Baby Blackbird come from?
Well, its short but sweet. The kids have a little lullaby that thier Dad sings, Mum trys her best to sing {I’m a little musically challenged}, or The Beatles themselves sing, it’s of course: Blackbird by The Beatles.
See my Mister is the biggest Beatles fan, he was that kid listening to The Beatles {as well as many other oldies} growing up while everyone else was listening to popular music. He always said that, when we have kids Blackbird would be the lullaby he would sing to them. 🙂
Both our kids love their lullaby, it makes them both smile {it even makes Harlow abruptly stop crying when she hears it}. So that’s why: Baby Blackbird, as well, the 2 black birds represent our kiddos, the font it is written in is even super special, it’s a font based on John Lennon’s handwriting {and a font I use alot on the blog}. 🙂
Like I said it’s short but sweet. Baby Blackbird has a special heart felt meaning to me, as well, I just really love it. Maybe it’s a bit cheesy, but that’s ok, it’s ok to be cheesy once in a while, right?
PS. I know Blackbird is written by Paul McCartney, but John Lennon’s Birthday still seemed like the best day to answer this question. 🙂
xoxo
