Uniform / Hot Humid Summer Days

hot humid summer days uniform / hot humid summer days summer days top: American Eagle/Don’t Ask Why – shorts: Aritiza – sandals: Birkenstocks

A crop top!? How dare I!! Let’s just start right there, shall we? When it’s hot, like 32 degrees with 94% humidity you simply wear a crop top. Any extra possibility of a breeze hitting you is a good thing, and that small break in the fabric at the mid-section area is like a mid level air conditioning point. Plus in my humble fashion opinion, high-rise bottoms make a crop top totally cool (mostly breezy cool).

The weather has been hot (like classic Toronto, summer HOT), but hey I’m not complaining, just you know making conversation since it feels like it’s been a while since we really chatted. Oh hey, before I forget; I FINALLY finished my little FAQ and it’s been updated on my About page — I don’t know why it took me so long, the small simple things oddly do sometimes. Well anyways, you should look and make sure I covered everything/your burning questions and if not, just question me below.
So, Chris has been working like crazy and not home too much so I’ve had to re (re) adjust my summer schedule a bit. Kids come first and then work time second — which is why things have been a tad more quiet then usual here on the blog, summer is all I have to say about that. So that’s basically what we’ve been up to, a whole lot of swimming to beat the heat (you can win some really cute swim suits in this post) and a whole lot of just the three of us hanging out — and of course me stressing about not getting enough done, by hey what’s new?

I clench my chattering teeth into a smile and it feels okay to be freezing cold, when there is big fluffy snow flakes falling down. When it snows, winter is alright in my books – call me crazy, it’s okay I don’t mind. Over the weekend we had a bit of a snowstorm (I say a bit, because for the rest of Canada this amount of snow is sorta peanuts) it snowed for 24 hours straight and Sunday we woke up to a beautiful snow filled day. We bundled up, Chris and I of course never bundle ourselves quite warm enough – and hit the slopes, the sledding slopes. Obviously, by the rosey cheeks and smiles – it was a great day.

And now I am off to get all bundled up, and hit the shopping crowds – because Christmas shopping just isn’t Christmas shopping unless, it’s last minute and filled with crowds of angry impatient people (just smells like Christmas). You know what I mean?

*My hat: American Apparel – boots: Sorel, and so are Chris’ (his are a few years old, these would be the most similar) – because a few people have already asked.

Not in just the way I dress them (hello identical onia swim trunks). I can’t help it, it just naturally happens – and King naturally wants everything that Chris has. My boys are so similar in their awesome big and little personalities, always joking making everyone smile. Some of those little looks or cute quirks only Chris has, King now has too. It blows me away everyday, King is Chris’ sidekick – many times it’s like they have inside jokes that I’m sure Harlow and I will never be apart of. It’s amazing, awesome and adorable (and super manly, of course) and I think if I didn’t have my very own girly sidekick it might make me feel a bit sad and left out (only being honest). It sure is a beautiful bond to watch, my little male duo.

*Chris has been working like crazy so we stole him away from work, went to the beach for a bit then out for dinner before he headed back to work. It was a really, really nice Dad break.

Matching father and son swim trunks c/o onia. NOTE: this is not a sponsored post, but those trunks they are luxurious and awesome (personal opinion).

SUMMER LOVIN’

family style, summer weather, mom and daughter style, what we wore family style, summer weather, mom and daughter style, what we wore family style, summer weather, mom and daughter style, what we wore family style, summer weather, mom and daughter style, what we wore

HARLOW – Sweatshirt: C/O American Apparel – Skirt:Old Navy – Shoes:Zara

BRANDY – Tee:Aritzia – Belt:The Gap – Skirt:American Apparel (2007) similar – Sandals:Zara (2008)

Summer is so close I can almost smell it. Sorta, right now I am still smelling through sneezes and the most evil pollen I have experienced in maybe forever (it’s so bad this year, am I right?) – but metaphorically I can smell summer. May.31 (which is a few sneezes away) is the true mark of summer, all the outdoor pools, water fountains and splash parks open up and school is itching to be finished. We are so excited!

I am also itching for some consistent summer weather, I know the whole conversation on weather is a boring one – but really it’s all over the map these days (or is that just here?). I’m starting to think maybe mother nature is a little drunk, or she’s having fun with us? I’m not blaming her, nor am I angry cause well we all need to have a little fun now and again. Either way, it’s cool I get it. But maybe come June, it would be pretty cool if I could finally pack up some of the spring/fall gear – and maybe not have to worry about finding mittens I packed up months ago because it’s a little too cold to go outside without them. Okay, maybe I am blaming mother nature a little – but I have high hopes for June. Mother nature put down the sauce and bring us some more of the sweet sunshine.

I will be trying my hardest NOT to complain about the heat and humidity come July, because really that’s how this story goes – that’s why the talk of weather is such a boring one (sorry for that).

Identical mom and daughter shoes, awwwwww. We were stopped too many times to mention (like our shoes were celebrities) and awwwwwed at in very loud whispers every where we went. So in case you were ever wondering, identical mom and daughter shoes are the bees knees (Harlow wants us to wear then EVERYDAY).

Family Style | wind blown

family style, kids style, young family, stylish family, family fashions

On the weekend we set out to play a game of road hockey, in an empty high rise parking lot of course. As soon as we turned the corner to cross the street, we got slapped in the face with north pole cold winds – so instead of running around chasing each other with sticks we decided to look like total fools and not only be the only ones on the wind blown streets but set up a tripod and snap photos. Once we got home and I looked back on said photos I literally laughed so hard I cried, my two boys they are the greatest (Harlow to of course, but once you see the photo of the whole family you’ll see). family style, kids style, young family, stylish family, family fashions family style, kids style, young family, stylish family, family fashions family style, kids style, young family, stylish family, family fashions

ME> Hat:NY Yankees – Coat:Zara (2011) similar – Tee:American Apparel – Jeans:JBrand (2007) – Boots:Zara (2010) similar

HARLOW> Hat: Toronto Blue Jays – Coat:Zara (2008) similar – Jeans:H&M – Shoes:Converse

And yes we are totally that family that sometimes purposely, often accidentally dresses alike – hence why I started a new series: like mother, like daughter (and probably like father, like son soon). And because it literally made me laugh for hours, here is a action shot – literally. family photo, family style, family fashion, young urban family
