July 2011

Last Saturday my husband surprised us in the morning by telling us he had the whole day off and he planned a day at the zoo for us! Any time he has a full day off is extra special and worth celebrating {it’s pretty rare}, but the zoo! We love the zoo!

The Toronto Zoo is fabulous, it’s huge, it’s truly a full day event if you visit all the animals, there is one pavilion we always skip {the Canadian one}, cause really we can look down an alley at night and see a family of raccoons {of course there are many other great animals in Canada}, but we go for the exotic animals {and the Canadian pavilion is down a very steep and long hill, which is a pain to leave pushing 2 kiddos in a stroller}.

We actually didn’t take that many pictures {trust me this is a very light picture day for us}, we just enjoyed the day, but here are a few, the ones where we aren’t dripping in sweat {it was another scorching hot day}.

There was a lot of  open mouth “OOHHHHH’s!!” from both kids and pointing to {usually what they thought was an animal, sometimes it was a rock cause the animal was hiding} followed by a giant “WOW!!!!”

And since my new favourtie camera happens to be on my iphone here’s a few of our fav instagram shots of the day.

After our fun filled, sweaty day, we visited the splash park at the zoo on our way out, just to cool off before our trek home. Kingston fell asleep on the ride home {at 4pm} and slept straight thru till 6am the next day! That’s how you know the day was a total success!

This weekend, no big plans for us. Probably some roaming around the city, park visits and some general maxing and relaxing lazy time. Any of you have any special plans for this weekend?

Happy Saturday!!

PS. Harlow’s cute tank is from b.childrens wear.

Mini Celebrity breaks down celebrity style, and creates the perfect mini celebrity look alike outfit for your little ones. This Friday, the perfect mini Elijah Wood outfit for your little guy.

1.77 kids surplus shirt 2.Zara boys checked shirt 3.Crewcuts plaque belt 4.Crewcuts buckle back straight leg jean 5.Crewcuts wingtip oxfords . photo

Totally a bit nerdy chic, but pretty cute. A little boy would need to be less stuffy and unbutton some of those buttons, but still pretty cute.

Hope you all have a great Friday! I literally just learned this morning that we have a long weekend! Excited, means my husband will have Monday off!

Today is the last day to get a sponsor spot on the blog for August…I have a couple Medium ads left, so if your interested make sure to shot me an email today: [email protected]

family style, what we wore, fashionable family, fashion loving family

The past couple weeks for us {well our whole city} and the rest of you poor saps who have been suffering thru a disgusting heat wave. I hate to complaining about heat, cause lets face it I live in Canada, so have some equally gross cold winters. But man, there was one day last week, 49°C {120°F}, it literally felt like we were walking around in the centre of a fire. No jokes.

The Sunday before the day of the fire heat, we met some lovely friends for breakfast, then we went out for lunch, came home for naps then went out for dinner. Our air conditioner wasn’t doing a very good job at fighting the extreme heat so we pretty much spent as little time home as possible and there was no way an oven or a burner was going to be turned on! So thru all the sweat and the outfit changes {cause we were all so hot} this is what we wore…

family style, what we wore, fashionable family, fashion loving family, heat wave, h&m kids clothing, DIY baby scarf headband, zara baby sandals, native kids shoes, boys h&m suspenders, boys american apparel tee, H&M mens shorts, havanias, h&m woemns skirt, zara womens sandals

MOM~ Tank: Zara…Belt: Winners…Skirt: H&M…Sandals: Zara

DAD~ Glasses: Warby Parker…Tee: American Apparel…Shorts: H&M…Sandals: Havanias

KINGSTON~ Hat: H&M…Tee: American Apparel…Suspenders: H&M…Shorts: H&M…Shoes: Native

HARLOW~ Headscarf: made my me…Dress: Handme down from Pippi…Sandals: Zara Baby

Harlow’s little head scarf was mainly to help catch some sweat, but it doubled as an adorable accessory. And King, well even when we try to leave the house without a hat or ask him to take it off cause he’s sweating like crazy…he refuses. This boy loves to wear hats. And lately he’s obsessed with suspenders, tells me every day “mommy I need supendies”, for me it’s win win, cause I dig them too!

My go to hairstyle lately is the side braid {easy, away from kids hands and still looks cute}, but since my hair is super slippery and pretty thin the only way to get it to stay in a side braid is to do a back side french braid:). But on this very hot and sweaty day, even the braid hanging down was too hot, so I quickly turned the braid into a bun.

So far this week {though it’s only Tuesday} the weather is so much better! Well it’s still way too hot for anyones good, but it’s normal Toronto, super humid hot. And bearable.
