She loves pink, sparkly things and the little mermaid. But super hero games, playing with cars and collecting rocks also top her “favowite” list. Slowly but surely my little girl has become a pretty fierce tomboy, my dream girl. I grew up doing whatever my brother did just like Harley; I loved playing with Barbies and GIJoes, obsessed with dresses (but only if they had pockets), going to dance classes and running home to play in the mud. Watching this little lady develop her very own likes and dislikes has sorta been like one giant childhood deja vu, for me. I keep waiting for her “all pink all the time” stage to happen, but I’m starting to think she might be more like me and this “sneakers and dresses and collecting sticks ” stage will last longer then I thought.

Harlow had a wee bit of a growth spurt so I pulled out one of my styled to last tricks to keep this way perfect tomboy dress in high rotation.

Someone seriously screwed up in the weekend to weekday, day allocation. Sunday’s are my favorite because I know for sure that day is for us, no work allowed. This weekend we went to a pool party (in the rain, it was really great – honest) and we stayed out a little (a lot) past bedtime. Sunday we all woke up pretty grumpy, and then we got grumpier at the fact that we were grumpy (result of a too late bed time for all 4 of us) – after a group nap, we salvaged the day with an afternoon walk. Then back home for some more relaxing, because the group nap just wasn’t enough. And STILL even with the group grumpies on Sunday, I wish today was Sunday and tomorrow and the next day. Basically I wish weekends would just last forever.

PS. That last pic? A new favorite of my twin goofballs.

everyday moments, riding bikes in the house, kids riding scooter in the house, kids having fun

EVERYDAY MOMENTS : 29/52 – blink my eyes for a second and the scooter is flying past.

The bikes and scooters are housed by the front door, probably not the smartest move when you have a “no riding in the house” rule – obviously it’s a really strict rule.

aritzia, zara, madewell, uniform for a tired mom, stylish mom, pre fall clothing, what to wear

jeans that fit (and are comfortable) . hide messy hair headband (on those days where you tie it up, and need something to hold back all the Albert Einstien fly aways) –  carryall bag (small enough, but big enough to pack most everything in)   –   pretty comfortable tee (pretty looking and comfortable feeling)   –   everyday wearable sandals (they looks pretty cool, and also like a comfy staple)

The stores are filling up with Pre Fall, and it has be sorta itching for Fall clothes – I hate when those sly retail tactics work on me (I dream of Fall clothes but never want Summer to end, makes sense). Here is an outfit for a day when you are super tired (probably almost everyday) and the weather has a nice summery crispy coolness to it (like Toronto today). In my head it’s always nice to look pulled together but feel as comfortable as possible on crazy tired days  – it’s sorta the whole fake it till you make it mentality.

Pretty sure this is like 10th time Harlow has worn this sweet dress, and the only time I was able to actually capture a photo. It’s funny how that works, as soon as you have a plan it’s like the kids can hear you thinking it and then they decide to do something totally different. It’s almost like they are teaching me a lesson (Arrested Development style) “And that’s why you don’t make a plan”. But really it’s cool, I understand. Which is why we like to just (try) to go with the flow and as for pictures, we are picture obsessed (even before and without the blog) so there is usually someone snapping pics. Therefore am bound to get some shots eventually, even 10 tries (probably a little exaggerated for effect) later .

We sorta half planned to hit up the Jazz festival in The Beaches, but once we got down to the water we sorta just sat back and didn’t move. It was a little windy so the waves were loud and a little on he big side (for a lake) – which adds that exxxxtra relaxing touch, listening to the waves roll in and out. We were sleepy and dragging our feet to begin the day, once we sat our butts down it was over and there was no moving. The only thing missing on our laid back  lazy Sunday were our Pajamas, though they just wouldn’t have really fit in with the speedos walking around anyways. Happy Monday everyone, hope it’s a bit more laid back (insert sound lyrics here…and if you know what I’m talking about you win a high five!) then usual!
