EVERYDAY MOMENTS : 21/52 – daily yoga practice.

This mornings practice was accompanied by the sweet sweet sounds of “Go Diego Go”, and a little half naked three year old mimicking every pose and trying to tickle me. Not quite as relaxing and physically challenging as it is in the studio, but I will take it – my day just does not feel complete anymore with out at least a little bit of yoga, even if it is interpreted.

*posting pictures of myself made me cringe a little – because my poses are not perfect. But really when will they ever be perfect? Never.

blogging woes, mom style, lifestyle blog

I have to be honest, I’ve been really second guessing myself with this whole blogging thing lately. Hooo Humming almost every post and every little word. Over analyzing each photo, thought and post. Wondering if it “fits” the mold I have created for my blog, if it measures up with all the other blogs, or if anyone will even like it! I actually wrote a long post laying out all my second guessing thoughts, which ended with me asking you readers for your feedback on what you love most about this blog.

But I had a “punch myself in the face and snap out of it” moment. I realized after having an exceptionally frustrating internet day/week/month, that I really like blogging (plain and simple). I love putting posts together, thinking of ideas, snapping endless photos and getting all these crazy thoughts out of my head in a creative sometimes very random, nonsensical manner. I found that I love blogging best when I ignore the thoughts of what others may be doing. Then the how I measure up thoughts dissipate (a little), and I get to share what is important or enjoyable to me in the moment.

I noticed that I enjoy marching to the beat of my own drum, but sometimes I forget that and try to march with the whole entire big band and then my drumming just gets messy and off rhythm. I also realized, as much as I love you all (and I really do adore you readers, really I do) that there is always going to be many of you who come here for the kids style, the photos of us running amok in the city, maybe even some mom style, my random bursts of real feelings and maybe even my nonsensical and sometimes quirky stories, etc etc. And that’s okay, because I am so many things, and I am interested in (or dare I say, good at) many different things. I like to share what comes naturally, what I feel compelled to share in that moment or just what feels right and fun (and sometimes scary, the good kind of scary).

So that post sitting in my drafts, about how I felt like I lost my groove and asking for feedback? I deleted it. I think it’s always better to kick self doubt and self deprecating thoughts in the teeth and leave them in your dust as you move forward (the one’s you can’t learn from anymore). So back on track, listening to the beat of my drum I go!

Summer is so close I can almost smell it. Sorta, right now I am still smelling through sneezes and the most evil pollen I have experienced in maybe forever (it’s so bad this year, am I right?) – but metaphorically I can smell summer. May.31 (which is a few sneezes away) is the true mark of summer, all the outdoor pools, water fountains and splash parks open up and school is itching to be finished. We are so excited!

I am also itching for some consistent summer weather, I know the whole conversation on weather is a boring one – but really it’s all over the map these days (or is that just here?). I’m starting to think maybe mother nature is a little drunk, or she’s having fun with us? I’m not blaming her, nor am I angry cause well we all need to have a little fun now and again. Either way, it’s cool I get it. But maybe come June, it would be pretty cool if I could finally pack up some of the spring/fall gear – and maybe not have to worry about finding mittens I packed up months ago because it’s a little too cold to go outside without them. Okay, maybe I am blaming mother nature a little – but I have high hopes for June. Mother nature put down the sauce and bring us some more of the sweet sunshine.

I will be trying my hardest NOT to complain about the heat and humidity come July, because really that’s how this story goes – that’s why the talk of weather is such a boring one (sorry for that).

Evening walks are awesome and one of my favorite parts of the weather being warmer. But when Dad is working two jobs, won’t be home till way after bedtime, and the kids nap till just about dinner time – evening walks are a bit different. We headed out for a warm weather evening walk slash “energy burning off, grab some fresh air, pack as many errands in while I still have a chance“. On this particular evening, I didn’t actually realize what time it was when we left the house – since the kids woke up sooo late from nap. By the time we were done all of the above, slash our evening walk – we realized our stomachs were growling at us and I noticed it was almost bedtime. Ring the stress bell! We ran to scarf down some food, food I definitely regretted a few moments later – but for the kids it was one amazing, spring time evening walk followed with the yummiest food, and some bird watching. It’s all how you look at it, these two sure are good at reminding me to kick away the self made stress and just enjoy.

hipster dad, ukele playing, handsome dad, young dad, stylish dad, enjoying everyday moments

enjoying those EVERYDAY moments : 20/52 – Chris and his Ukelele, together forever.

Everyday even if it’s just for a moment, the ukelele is in his hands – it sounds better then my photos can describe, because well you can’t actually hear the awesome sounds/sweet sweet music. Also, yes that’s an exclusive Cars sticker tattoo sleeve – I know a 4.5 year old guy who’s specialty is sticker sleeves, if you’re interested?

^So excited to have candy, who needs to eat it.

I snapped some memories from my girls third birthday yesterday. We try to make birthday’s special from morning till night, also we haven’t jumped on the birthday party ship yet – mostly since we don’t have a lot of family around to invite. Basically we shoot to make each moment a birthday event, even if it means just giving it a special name for the day (birthday tantrums, are special right?).

Three whole years old! It really feels unfair how fast these kids grow up, but at the same time I wouldn’t change it for the world – every moment is more amazing and filled with more love then the last. Harlow everyday we fall more and more and more in love with your kind little heart, silly personality, delicate demeanor, strong determination, and your fierce “I can do it” attitude. You are our cuddle bunny, our little sweetheart, our little tom boy girly girl – Mommy, Daddy and Kingston love you more then Mommy could ever possibly describe in words on the internet. Happy Third Birthday Harlow we love you!
