ONE ON ONE

The last photo; those kind ladies were oooohing and awwwing over little Harlow. And trying to tell her how to pose, Harlow so used to it with all the pictures we take, just smiles and continues on dancing in the street.

After a looooong three months, my husband is back to his regular schedule (no more 16-18+ hour days 6 days a week). He still works way too much, and too hard – but he is back to having weekends off (most of them) for now at least. This pretty exciting news, also came with a bright idea on his part – since I have been sorta kinda spending all the waking hours alone with the kiddos, and they have been missing him like I miss daily yoga (I mean HIM, I missed him more). He thought it would be extra great if we switched off spending “one on one” time with each kiddo, every few weekends – to help make up for the busy times that have passed (for now). So this past weekend that’s what we did. Saturday he took the wee lady to work with him, while I took the boy to his activities and a party – not really FUN alone time per say, but the kids loved every second of it. Sunday the boys went to a Blue Jays game and the girls to window shop, cupcake eat, and walk around.

I then came up with this brilliant idea: take his idea of having one on one kiddo dates every other weekend but we each only get $25 to spend for the whole day of fun. I think it’s an easy peasy task, considering we do this on family dates no problem (usually it’s $0 all day, and we are out allll day). But it should be fun to document, and talk about after – basically we like to turn most things in life to a fun healthy competition. This one being the “who can have the most fun for less” competition, it’s win win.

Unfortunately I stunk at taking photos, Saturday was mostly work and chauffeuring, and Sunday iphone cameras kinda ran the roost. So a snippet of photos from my lady date are above, and the “behind the scenes, outakes, photos you probably already seen if you follow me on Instagram whatever you want to call them, are below.

Kiddo one on one dates, how often do you do them? What do you do, let’s throw out some ideas – so I am sure to win.

Glad I found you (linked from Jen ;) ) With four kids, and homeschooling, I feel like most of our "dates" are more practical…Still we love to "sneak in" a trip to Starbucks or fro yo, or some other special treat. Occasionally we take real dates, and I do love those too. I really love your blog-your little girl is very cute (I only have boys :) ) I’ll be back!!

Glad you did too! Practical dates are good, it’s the time that counts. Thank you!

The idea of each weekend with a child I feel great. The pictures are very nice, as the girl poses. Kisses and happy Wednesday morning last Friday.

My son has this Ramones shirt too. I love this idea. We only have one kid though. When his father works, we go to the park, playground, stroller walks, visiting family and friends etc.

It’s my favorite tee, I will be pretty sad when she outgrows it. Sounds like perfect dates! :)

I almost never get one-on-one time with my gals. They don’t really like to be separated. But last Sunday, my sister took Clarissa and my husband and I got to spend the day with Veronica. The Saturday prior, she took Veronica and we got the whole day with Clarissa. It was pretty great.

We are usually like you, we rarely do it – but it was so nice for everyone!
