Our Style | What We Wore

A little change to my regular Friday posts, if you are looking for Mini Celebrity – I promise it will be back in full swing next week. I wanted to share a post that was sitting in my draft box for basically forever, thoughts on the whole superficial side of style and just things in general. So if your not into that, scroll on down and see Harlow’s oppsy hair cut, otherwise…read on if you like.

family life, family fashion, family style, all fun and games, toddler running away It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye. That old saying plays over and over in my head whenever we encounter a new ‘game’ with King and Harlow – a game that is SO MUCH FUN, until it’s taken out of context and it scares the pants off me. Like the running away from Mom, Dad or Kingston game –  it’s hilarious, you can even see a smile on my face. But not soon after we leave the safe chasing environment of the park or home, Harlow is running down a busy street laughing her cute little face off while we chase after her calling her to stop – of course the more we yell the louder and deeper her giggles get. Obviously, this is not one of those games that may cause a loss of an eye or really anything that serious well, other then Mom and Dad growing a few greys – but the old saying fits and rings in my head, every single time.

kids fashion, family fashion When Dad is home from work, it’s not very often that Kingston wants to walk and hang with his dear old Mom. Actually this never happens, he’s a Daddy’s boy and pretty much wants to be with him ALL the time. Over the weekend, on one of our outings (that totally entailed at stop at the bookstore, they really love that place!) I was able to get a little Kingston hand holding time. By a little I mean for about 15 minutes , but it was a wonderful 15 minutes!

This outfit is totally part of my stylish but super comfy everyday mom looks, not one of our most stylish outfit posts but great for those comfy days! We are nearing the end of winter, so creativity in dressing starts to fall to the side cause all we can think about is spring!

This week we have been fighting a bit of the flu, little Harlow was sick all weekend and is finally starting to feel a tad bit better. She was so very sweet to share the love and pass her cold onto me. 🙁 So today is movie day while Mom drags her butt along trying to make it to 6PM when Dad comes home. Happy Tuesday Friends, the couch some tea and Advil are calling my name!

family style, fashionable family We didn’t get snow for Christmas, and it has been awesome-ly warm pretty much all winter…until this week. The day before yesterday was so cold I swear my eye balls felt like they were freezing and I had to run from store to store (while on errands) to keep from peeing my pants (OK not really, well maybe). Seriously it was COLD! The Mister and I moved away from a Northern-ish freezing-fricking-cold-every-single-day-of-winter city 9 years ago (holy moly that was 9 YEARS AGO!) and the cold was half the reason we left. Toronto gets cold, but usually not -30C cold (it’s just way less common) so cold days like the other day sneak up and bite us in the butt. And then we whine and complain for days, and dream of hot summer days, then when hot summer days come, we whine and complain about how it’s TOO hot (never changes).

When it’s ‘my nose hairs are freezing’ and ‘my eyelashes are frozen to my glasses’ cold, it’s pretty hard to dress stylish. But really who’s looking anywhere but, the ground they are running on to get out of the cold anyways? Dad snapped a few pics of me in the kids the day before I froze my butt off (the kids stayed home with dad in our warm home that day), pictures of us all toasty warm. The day the weather started to get a little colder, this is what we wore…

Kingston  Hat:The Gap (2010) similar  /  Coat:The Gap  /  Mittens:The Children’s Place  /  Jeans:Zara  /  Boots:The Gap

Harlow  Hat:The Gap  /  Coat: c/o Il Gufo  /  Mittens:The Children’s Place  /  Dress:H&M  /  Tights:The Gap  /  Boots:Zara Baby  /  Bunny:Jellycat

Can’t go wrong with a pair of Sorel’s in the winter, okay maybe not that stylish, but my toasty toes love em. The kids’ have mini Sorel-sih boots which are pretty adorable and stylish on them (everything is cute and stylish on kids). Also I have to gush over this diaper bag, I love it. I forget it’s a diaper bag all the time and find myself carrying it (full of diapers might I add) when I am out by my lonesome. No one can ever tell it’s not just a cool purse till I open it up and they see an entire pack of diapers (it’s like an apartment in there big enough to hold a pack of diapers and probably a kitchen sink too).

PS. The day we took these pictures it was cold but not snow pants cold. When it’s really cold out, we dress it hats, scarfs, snow pants and the kids are usually wrapped in blankets in the stroller and covered with the rain bubble (that’s if we go out at all).

Today is my husband’s first day back at work, and booyy today is gonna suck! We will probably spend most of the day missing him, and grumpy because of it.

Last week Harlow and I ran a few errands, just us girls. It was a really hot day {love Indian Summer’s in Toronto} so we both wore shorts, pretty awesome when you can still wear shorts in October.

Harlow and I went on an errand run a few errands and this is what we wore… family style, mom and toddler outfit posts, kids fashion, childrens fashion, mom style, what we wore, h&m womens sweater, urban outfitters chambray roomper, theit the bossi bag, zara floral oxfords, warby parker glasses, zara baby sneakers, zara baby denim shorts, h&m onesie tank top, h&m baby cardigan

This little lady is the sweetest little thing I know. Cuddly, kissy, quiet and happy all the time. I call her my ‘shadow’ since well, she is.

It’s been along time since we did a family style post {sorry for the absence}, since my mister is back to working normal hours {yay!!}, and also has a few days off {bigger yay!!!!}. I have my photographer back {and by default my husband;)}.

On Sunday when we went out for an evening walk {all 4 of us!}, Chris brought the camera. I couldn’t convince him to come out from behind the camera but this is what Harlow, King {a bit of King}, and I wore…

*though THEIT is a sponsor of Baby Blackbird, I truly adore this bag {my own personal option}. It’s the most stylish and best camera bag I have ever owned, I don’t have alot of camera gear so it also doubles as a diaper bag {since I have alot of diapers}. Harlow also really digs this bag, always trying to snatch it from me and carry it herself.

Harlow is wearing the dress she wore oh her first Birthday, by far my fav dress she has owned so far, so glad it still fits. I love fall, but mostly fall transition. I love mixing summer clothes with new {and old fall clothes}, finding new ways to wear old clothes, it really is the best season of the year.

What’s your favourite season? Silly question, it’s fall right? 😉

family style, what we wore, fashionable family, fashion loving family

We were lazy and super slow getting out of the house, on this super hot day. Went out for a late lunch on a patio, hit up a super amazing new neighborhood park by our house, then fresh gelato (first time I had gelato, and now I’m obsessed!). This is what we wore..well Dad was playing a fool and trying to hide from the camera so this is what the three of us wore….

family style, what we wore, fashionable family, fashion loving family, zara pink tulip skirt, urban outfitters womens beatles tee, zara womens grey sandals, vintage native baby girl romper, zara girls cage sandals, b.childrens wear military tee, zara boys denim shorts, boys native black shoes, boys black quicksliver straw fedora, out and about in toronto, stylish young canadian family

I think the best part, is in most of these pictures is that King is totally soaked, since the park has a wading pool and a splash pad {and we took the pictures after our park fun}.

The day after we took these pictures, these sandals broke….I may or may not have shed a small tear. I adored these bad boys {though this is the 3rd summer I have rocked them}, and will definitely have a hard time getting thru the rest of the summer without them.:(

Even though he didn’t want to be in pictures, I snuck a couple in anyways. Ha!

I’m currently trying to work on a little shop the kids closet, I took the photos and am just editing. It’s hard work taking photos when during the hours the kids sleep…the lighting…not so favourable. I hope to have it up soooon!
