The Bee’s Knees | Swim Suits for Mom

cute and fun / sassy bottoms / pretty high-rise / funky extra top cover / retro cute / comfy bottoms

New Feature?  I often get emails and comments asking for advice on finding items for the family, so I thought why not create a little feature around that idea. So this is where I will post our favorite items (for the whole family), the items we think are The Bee’s Knees.

I have been searching for a new swim suit, a suit that is fun, sassy (and maybe a tiny bit sexy) but a bit more modest and comfy for when I’m swimming with kids. I want something Mom friendly but not Mom looking. Currently I only own bikinis that have string or ties (it’s a bit embarrassing actually) and those often get tugged and untied by tiny hands. I’m over constantly worrying about the possibility of flashing the entire public pool, so I am on the hunt for a great new swim suit. The price of swim is jaw dropping (you’d think the price would match the amount of fabric) I have always avoided the prices of quality swim, but after buying so many cheapo suits over the years I’m convinced you get what you pay for. These are 6 of the swim suits I think are The Bee’s Knees, they all have a bit of extra coverage in the just right places but are still sassy and fun. The only problem is I now want all them, which one is your favorite?

EDIT: I found this super cute polka dot full suit, that has a really great price tag.

What do you think of this new feature idea…yay or nay?

i like this feature. I really am stumped about finding a bathing suit too. I ended up having to wear one last year after giving birth to J and unlike some model moms, at 3 mos post baby I was so soft and pouchy still. I found a simple black full piece, with rouching on the side was amazing for making me appear like I had some shape still. I’m not quite ready for the 2 piece I don’t think.

I think I just totally avoided the pool during those months (years). I bet you look amazing!

I quite liked that retro cute suit….until I saw the price. Yikes!!

I’m on the hunt for a new suit, too. All mine are bikinis and, yeah, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to wear a 2 piece again. I bought a new one last year for pretty cheap but the straps cut into my arms. Not so awesome.

La Vie En Rose Aqua is usually pretty good for quality suits that aren’t mucho expensive. I just cannot justify $100+ for a bathing suit.

I know it’s a tough sell spending so much on such a small item, but I’m starting to think it’s like a good bra I may need at least ONE great one. And I now can’t find anything I like that is under $100, all the cheapos I love are the not so mom friendly styles.

That’s true.

I recently bought a VS bra and paid WAY more than I ever spend on a bra and I love it so much.

The problem will be finding a cute suit that isn’t so trendy that I’ll be tired of it in a few seasons.

Checkout Aqua (If you want a second not-so-pricey suit) – I found a really great one-piece that I would have bought up in a second had it come in a colour I liked and I think it was only $60. Very mom friendly but still super cute. : )

Yay! I love posts like this because I’m the last to find out about new online stores (or well known ones…hello, Madewell three months late to the party). Anyway, I vote yes.

I love the "cute and fun" suit(but its WAY outta my price range!). The one time I bought an expensive suit it turned out to be dry clean only, which I thought was nuts so I threw in the washing machine and it fell apart! So Target suits are it for me :)

I just found your blog this weekend and I’m hooked!

I’m looking for a cute bathing suit top to pair with a plain black swim skirt. After having a baby, I am no longer interested in a revealing bottom situation. I’m not sure why this isn’t more of an option.
Anyways, love the suits here!

I agree, it’s surprisingly hard to find a suit that covers more of the bottom without looking like your hiding (aka also looking cute). Thank you!

Oh my badges of honor? I have a few elsewhere, good thing is there are TONS of adorable one pieces – really you probably won’t even miss bikinis.
