4 People Who Are Super Inspirational

I realized I follow people on Instagram and Pinterest or I subscribe to their blogs for a few different reasons. Usually because they offer beautiful things to look at, things I can relate too, things that are helpful or things that make me smile/laugh — generally the people I follow on many accounts (or stalk, whatever you wanna call it) are people I find inspiring in some shape or form. So in an effort to bring more beautiful and inspiring things to your day I wanted to share some of the people I either follow on the internet cause I really dig them, or people I met via the internet cause I really dug them.
If I included people who inspire me that I know in “real life and met in real life”  this list would be really long and I also wouldn’t be able to link to many of them (since many of them aren’t on the internet) so you wouldn’t be able to get just as inspired. And that wouldn’t be quite as fun. Well for you, it would be pretty fun for me.
Since I am a bit of a cliché and my niche of likes, skills and interests is a bit vast and spread out these 4 inspiring people pretty spread out in how they inspire me. So there should be at least one (probably all) that resonates with you.

4 Super Inspiring People

Andrea Duclos from OhDearDrea
I had always loved her blog, her honesty and colorful point of view on life. And then Drea quickly became my favorite person on the internet, because she talks about the things no one else does and in such an honest real life way. When we became, talking everyday friends I realized even more just what a truly fantastic person she really is. Her blog and her IG are my favorite, relate-able, authentic and honest and just freaking beautiful.

Mariah Coz from femtrpreneur.co
She runs/writes the uber helpful site femtrepreneur.co, where she offers her expertise to help female entrepreneurs become badass bosses. Her advice is pretty much always bang on (and super helpful), it’s honest and relate-able and she is just a joy to follow.

Alyssa from mini mioche
I e-met Alyssa, 4 (or so) years ago when she found my blog on the internet. It took me forever to meet her in real life, but boy am I glad I did. And not just because I have had the chance to work with her on some really fantastic projects — those are just icing. She has business drive and ambition is incredible, her focus to get to her end goals is, (have I said the word enough yet?) inspiring. Not to mention her creativity in how she approaches every aspect of her business, incredibly inspiring (there it is again!) to be around and follow.

Stephanie Birch from @stephynow
She is one of the only yoga-gramers I follow on IG. She has a way of grabbing attention with her stunning poses and then holding you there with her truthful and inspiring words. I appreciate so much that her account is not just about the physical poses it dives much deeper, which is hard to do since all you see is a visual.

Who are the people on the internet who inspire you? Do you follow any of these people already? Would you like me to share more posts like this in the future?

Free Things To Do In Toronto During The Summer

FREE (or almost free) things to do in Toronto, during the summer. #toronto #travel Traveling is expensive and traveling to a city with a lot to offer can be even more $$. It’s hard not to want to do it all while you are there. Actually to be honest, sometimes living in a big city like Toronto with so much to do all the time, can be expensive — so many places to go, see and try it’s hard to not want to do it all! In my opinion it’s good to be smart where you plan your fun and sometimes you just need to pull back a little and plan a few free (or really in-expensive) but also really great things in there, to mix things up (slash, lessen the load on the old wallet). Here are some of our favorite, go-to things to do in Toronto (Ontario, Canada) that luckily happen to be free (or at least really really cheap):

The Lazy Girls Guide To Pairing Type

While me and my three kids (har har har, 3rd child=husband), are relaxing/visiting family in the beautiful prairies I asked my lovely and very talented friend Lesley to help me out a little. Lesley is the clever and creative lady behind the statement paper goods Swell Made Co, with over 10 years of design experience working with various clients she knows a thing or 10 about making things look really really great. Since she is the person I go to for help and feedback when I design things, so I figured she would be the best person to share a few tips on how to easily pair type together. Simple tips for something that should be so simple but usually ends up getting overcomplicated (there are just so many options!!). If you have ever wondered what was the best way to pair fonts/type together, Lesley is your girl with the lazy girls (simple) guide.

6 Ways To Grab A Moment Alone, When You Are Not Alone

6 Ways To Grab A Moment Alone, When You're Not Alone. Some days it just feels impossible to get a moment to yourself, to catch a tiny breather. And most days it feels like that’s just what you need, just that tiny second to yourself to catch you breath and to let your mind unwind a little. And as always by YOU, I mean ME, I’m just always assuming we are on the same page — which we sorta are, cause you’re here and so are my words.
As a parent I just need a breather, sometimes.
As an urban dweller, I need some space from time to time (slash everyday).
And from working and living in a small space, I need “just a second” to my lonesome almost daily.
Sure I practice yoga, and that is my sanity saver but still as the day rolls on “moments alone” to get myself back on track are still often needed.

I realize I don’t always get those official alone moments and I’m pretty positive you don’t either (same page and all). But I also realized there are a few things I do to squeak moments in when I can, even the half assed type of seconds alone can be pretty sweet.

That Summer Feeling

long weekend vibes beach carrying throwing rocks beach side fun what's your summer bucket list? #summerbucketlist The long weekend in May always has me itching for summer days, basically just more days like long weekend days. And now that the long weekend is over, oh hello Tuesday that feels like a Monday! I’m thinking maybe the best way to get over this long weekend hangover is to just go on and look ahead to summer — since we are all already looking that way anyways, am I right?

I like to be rather anal retentive about our summer plans, our summer bucket list usually gets entered into my sunrise calendar (best calendar app by the way) so I have a loose plan for each-and-every summer day. That way my anal retentive brain can a)make sure the bucket list items actually get checked off, b)everyday is just equally awesome and c)I can figure out how to fit in my work schedule, in-between all the fun somewhere.

I added “make summer bucket list” to my weeks plans, but thought I’d ask you all what’s on your list — off the top of your head! I can tell you that tan my bright like the sunlight legs and feet will be on that list and probably some more rock throwing and beach hanging, because well obviously.

What’s on your summer bucket list? Shoot me with your ideas!

Those Times When You Only Have One Free Hand

sandwich hands | when you have one free hand to hold 99.9 times out of ten (I know my math is a tad flawed) I don’t always have two free hands to hold my kids two little hands. There are many times in the day when the moment calls for me to hold my kids hands; when stepping into the subway, crossing a busy street, but we live in the city so in-reality “many moments” mostly means all moments. There are also many times in the day when the same moment leaves me with only one free hand, sometimes no free hands but usually I can wiggle at least one free when I’m stuck. Does this happen to you?
My bag of choice is already a backpack, and the reason is pretty much to make the whole two hands free thing, more of a possibility. But still, sometimes one hand is all I got and I have two little kids hands to hold — so the math just doesn’t work.

So we developed this system/game, called “sandwich hands“. It’s basically exactly what you see, a sandwich of hands — I just call out “sandwich hands!” when I need two hands but only have one of my own to give. It’s only good for short distances (crossing the street, getting into subways, making your way through a small but dense crowd, etc) and it often results in some kiddo bickering (but really what doesn’t?) mostly about who get’s to be the cheese or the bread.

The next time you only have one free hand to hold (or maybe you have two free hands but need to hold 4 little hands?) try “sandwich hands”. PS. I went on a field trip with Harlow’s class the other day and sandwich hands, also worked like a charm with the kiddos I was taking care of.
